Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide (CO2) that is typically produced by compressing and cooling gaseous carbon dioxide. It is called "dry" ice because it does not melt into a liquid state when it warms up; instead, it undergoes a process called sublimation, in which it turns directly from a solid into a gas.

Dry ice is extremely cold, with a temperature of around -109.3°F (-78.5°C), and is often used as a refrigerant for transporting frozen food, medical supplies, and other perishable goods. It is also commonly used in the entertainment industry for special effects, such as creating smoke or fog effects.

Due to its extremely low temperature and the fact that it sublimates into a gas, dry ice can be dangerous if not handled properly. Direct contact with dry ice can cause severe frostbite, and it should always be stored and transported in a well-ventilated area to prevent the buildup of carbon dioxide ga
